Turn Back Time At Fort Vancouver

It is a modest fort, in its current state. Modest enough that the garden that greets you is prone to steal your attention from the stories and artifacts hidden behind the sun-bleached logs of the main wall. Quickly, pay your fee for entrance, and be deliberate with your questions as your wander the Fort. Then, take your time to listen to the history of this land.

The pictures below follow a journey through the various roles and places at Fort Vancouver, and many like it during the early decades of the western frontier. There was room for study and medicine amidst the keystone trading of furs. Carpenters had their role to build and mend. Plain cooks orchestrated the meals of the day, for those well-to-do.
